H2prO - Portable Photocatalytic Electricity Generation and Water Purification Unit

H2prO - Portable Photocatalytic Electricity Generation and Water Purification Unit

Some kids are really bright. This is a work from Cynthia Lam. Hope she carries on her dream to success.
Electricity and clean water -things that we easily have access to are unfortunately luxuries for those in underdeveloped countries.

Break your cycling bad habits

Break your cycling bad habits
We’re all creatures of habit, especially when it comes to our cycling. But some habits are bad.
Very good tips to improve riding.

Anyone who has lights on their bike faces a number of choices: you can leave them on your parked bike and risk them being stolen; you can buy really cheap but not very effective ones so you don't care if they are stolen; you can carry them around in your pockets or bag and probably lose them.

This is an alternative way. They look good although a bit expensive.

Mind over matter: EU researchers use brainpower to get moving.

EU-funded projects such as TOBI (Tools for Brain-Computer Interaction) are working on technologies to allow people with serious physical impairments to regain control of paralysed limbs, surf the web and take 'virtual' walks with their thoughts!

Interesting solar cell efficiency chart. There are different technologies at different levels of evolution, some ramping up and some reaching the end point.

These Pollution-Cleaning Towers In China Will Be The Tallest Skyscrapers In The World

The world’s tallest tower, to be built in Wuhan, China, will be one of the most environmentally friendly skyscrapers anywhere. Paired with a slightly shorter tower, the design seeks to help restore the environment to a healthy balance.

The towers will suck up pollution out of the air and the water from the lakes below.  The large tower pulls water up, cleans it through a series of filters and puts it back. The towers also feature pollution absorbing coatings to help clean the air, vertical gardens for added filtration and a chimney that naturally pulls air across the lake for improved ventilation.

All the power used by the towers will be generated by wind turbines, solar technology, hydrogen fuel cells and the building’s own waste. The designers hope that this will set an example for sustainable design in the industrial city.
