"Is hydrogen the new oil? Many scientists believe that in the future hydrogen could substitute oil and natural gas for energy production. But the production of hydrogen is itself a very energy-consuming process. Scientists from the Jülich Research Centre could well have the answer to the problem: Light-induced water splitting. The central building block is a multijunction silicon solar cell."

Interesting development. Comparing to solar enery, hydrogen has a strong advantage. It can be stored.
